“Finance gave me the discipline. Education gave me the reason. AI is the tool I am building with now.”
Where he comes from
Three generations of his family have taught: his grandmother, his father, and now Ivan. “Education is not a sector I entered,” he says. “It is where I come from.” He began investing at eleven.
14 years: Investment management
From analyst to Head of Global Multi-Asset Strategies and Senior Portfolio Manager at ATRAM, overseeing more than US$2 billion. He earned his CFA and passed the CAIA exams along the way.
2023: Co-founded Aralin
An education start-up in the Philippines, matching university students as mentors with students preparing for college entrance tests. His lesson from it: “I wasn’t building for customers. I was building for myself. That was my wake-up call.” In Eden, pupils start with the people they build for.
December 2024: Sloan Fellow, London Business School
The Sloan Masters in Leadership and Strategy is London Business School’s full-time masters for senior professionals. LBS calls its Fellows one of the School’s most experienced cohorts, with an average of 18 years’ experience. Ivan joined at 35, the youngest in his cohort, and focused on strategy, game theory and putting strategy into practice.
2025: Flosendo
He started Flosendo at London Business School in 2025 with a fellow Sloan. Since August 2026 he has led it as sole founder and owner. Flosendo is part of the LBS Incubator Programme.
2026: Mentor and speaker at LBS
Mentor at the LBS AI Lab, and a guest speaker on practical AI for LBS leadership cohorts. At the School’s Enterprise for Schools day he ran two entrepreneurship sessions for about fifty Year 11 pupils from four London schools, and he has run hands-on AI sessions at the School for classmates and staff. At graduation in 2026, London Business School gave him its Social Good Award, for service to the School and the wider community.
Mentors and advisers
Andrew Halls OBE, former Head Master of King’s College School, Wimbledon; John Nolan; and Max Comfort.
Now: two programmes
Eden, the Entrepreneurship Den, for secondary schools: entrepreneurship for every pupil, built around how pupils learn. Flosendo ran an Eden school pilot at St Augustine and used teacher and student feedback to shape the programme. See Eden

How Ivan designs for learning
- The whole first. Pupils take in what they learn when they see how each step fits the whole, because then it matters to them.
- Why before how. Every activity opens with why it matters, then how to do it.
- Prompts, not blank pages. Pupils work from guided prompts and real examples, never an empty box.
- Recall, not rereading. Eden’s flashcards and quizzes bring each session back.
- The class first. The skills that stay human are learned among people. So in Eden the class is where the learning happens; the app prepares it and keeps the work.
In his words. “I’ve been a learning science enthusiast for years. I enrolled in meta-learning courses myself because I needed to learn a lot, fast.”
How he works
He runs Flosendo with AI agents. Problems that teachers, pupils or advisers raise are usually fixed within days.
He follows Charlie Munger’s advice to think with ideas from many fields, and before a big decision he asks who else is involved, what each of them is likely to do next, and which outcome he can live with.
Most weeks he visits a museum, usually the Wallace Collection, the British Museum or Tate Modern. It is where he rests and enjoys himself, and where he develops his taste: judging what he likes and learning from the masters.
He is working on how a firm should run when AI agents do much of its expert work, and which decisions stay with people.
He does it to keep learning, and because he enjoys it.
